Simple Protein Bagel Recipe

Everyone will jump up in an instant to tell you carbs are the enemy! Bread is a no-no for any fitness warrior. However recently a new protein trend has emerged combining all kinds of food products with a protein-rich base; Yogurts, bread, drinks and other snacks.

The humble bagel can easily be passed by in the bread aisle of the supermarket, but recently many people are coming up with their own creative homemade protein bagel recipes.

 When you next in a baking mood – Give this bagel a whirl

 Serving details

  • Serving Size: 1 bagel
  • Calories per serving: 152
  • Fat per serving: .3

 Ingredients required for this healthy little devil 

  • 1 cup Flour (You can use gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 tsp. - Baking Powder
  • 3/4 tsp - Salt but not required
  • 1 cup - Nonfat Greek Yogurt
  • 1 Egg – Egg whites only
  • 1 Protein Serve | Your Choice of Protein | Go for a simple vanilla protein


 Preheat oven. Use baking paper across the tray.

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a glass cooking bowl.
  2. Add Greek yogurt to dry ingredients and mix through.
  3. knead mixture onto a surface with flour until consistent.
  4. Divide into 4 equal balls.
  5. Roll each ball into a thick rope section.
  6. Connect the rope, forming bagel shape and place on baking sheet.
  7. Brush egg white on top of each bagel.
  8. Bake for roughly 20 minutes until golden brown

 Get Creative!

 Once you have the basic recipe you can start mixing up the flavors, you can start adding dried fruits to your mixture or you can dust the finished bagel with coconut flakes. Once you have your finished healthy protein bagel you can slice in half and serve with the rest of your healthy treats. 

  • Mix with salmon
  • Salads
  • Avocado
  • Grilled Chicken
  • Mixed Grains topping
  • Peanut butter
  • Or a simple egg

This can really liven up your prep meal grind with some fun flavors without destroying you meal game all in one go.
